Power BI Dashboards for Small Businesses

Know where you stand, without hunting for it

Picture opening one screen in the morning and seeing exactly how much you made this month, what it actually cost you, and where things are slowing down, without opening seven spreadsheets or waiting for someone to prepare a report. The numbers are already there, up to date, clear enough that you don’t need to be a data person to read them.

Most businesses aren’t short on data, they’re drowning in it. The numbers are scattered across the accounting system, a sales spreadsheet, and whatever the ops person remembers. The fix isn’t “one more report,” it’s a single source of truth: the relevant data gets pulled automatically into one place, and a live dashboard shows it in language leadership can read without an explanation or a complicated table.

01

Diagnose

We map which decisions you actually need to make every week, and which number is missing for you to make them with confidence

02

Build

Connecting the relevant sources into one live dashboard, in a tool you may already know (Power BI, Tableau) or a new one if that fits better

03

Support

Making sure leadership actually reads the screen and relies on it, not just on launch day

What you actually get

  • Three questions, agreed up front.

Before a single screen gets built, we agree together on the questions the dashboard has to answer every week.

  • Automatic connection to the sources you already have.

Excel, spreadsheets, your accounting system or your CRM, with no manual copying.

  • A screen you can read at a glance.

The numbers that matter sit at the top, the detail is there only for whoever wants to dig in.

  • An owner for every number.

Each figure has one person responsible for keeping it correct and current.

  • A fixed refresh on the calendar.

The data updates on a set schedule, so it never goes stale without anyone noticing.

  • A check at 30 and 90 days.

We check that the team actually opens the dashboard, and change whatever isn’t working.

Who this is for

  • A business where the monthly report is built by hand from several Excel files.
  • Leadership waiting days or weeks for an answer to “what does this actually cost us?”
  • A business that already has Power BI or Tableau, but nobody opens the dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between an Excel dashboard and a Power BI dashboard?

Excel is great for calculations and one-off analysis, but an Excel dashboard usually depends on copying data in by hand, and every update takes work. Power BI connects directly to your sources, refreshes on a schedule, and lets several people see the same picture without emailing files around. If you have one data source and a small business, a well-organized Excel file is sometimes enough, and I’ll tell you so.

How long does it take to build a management dashboard?

A focused dashboard usually takes weeks, not months. What sets the timeline is the state of the data. If it’s scattered or inconsistent, part of the work is cleaning it up before the screen gets built.

Do you need a license to use Power BI?

The dashboard is built in Power BI Desktop, which is free. Sharing it with your team usually requires a Pro license for everyone who shares or views it. During the diagnosis we check what fits your number of users, and whether you already have licenses through Microsoft 365.

Can you connect the systems we already use?

In most cases, yes. Power BI connects to Excel files, spreadsheets, databases and many other systems through ready-made connectors. Where there’s no direct connection, we build an intermediate step that pulls the data in automatically.

How much does a management dashboard cost?

The price depends on how many sources need connecting, what state they’re in, and how many screens you need. After a free consultation you get a proposal split into stages, and you decide on each stage separately.
